Giles Fallowfield is an acknowledged expert on the wines of Champagne, the region itself and sparkling wines in general, having gleaned his knowledge from regular visits to the region for over 30 years. He also writes about restaurants, food, travel and other wine related subjects for many different consumer and specialist trade publications.

The Champagne consultant for Oz Clarke’s Pocket Wine Book 2001-2016, he also wrote the Champagne chapter in Wines of the World published by Dorling Kindersley in 2004 and fully revised in 2009. His own book Le Snob Champagne was published by Hardie Grant in the UK and Australia in October 2011 and in Germany by Sueddeutsche Zeitung (part of Random House) the following year. A revised edition was published in the USA in December 2013 by Princeton Architectural Press in their ‘Instant Expert’ series.

Giles was the Champagne columnist for Imbibe and Square Meal Magazine for over a decade, overseeing ten Square Meal Champagne supplements (2007-2016). On the international stage, he writes regularly for Meininger’s Wine Business International and Drinks International, producing and writing DI’s ‘Most Admired Champagne Brands’ supplement for the last seven years (2015-21). His work also appears regularly in The Drinks Business while he has written for JancisRobinson.com, Harpers, Off Licence News, DecanterThe TimesThe Daily Telegraph and Financial Times.
